So today I have something very exciting for you all, and that is my very first release blitz & giveaway! The book that I'm doing this with is Captive's Kiss by Sharon Kay. I'm really excited for this, so let's jump right in!

My Review -
I gave this book a rating of 4/5 stars.

There was only one thing I didn't like about this book, and that was the overuse of "what the hell" and other rhetorical questions.

Other than that, the writing was fluent, and the story got straight to the point. The description was enough to make you able to clearly picture the scene, without being boring, and I found it very easy to slip into, however, I also didn't have trouble tearing my eyes away from the story, which I think is quite a good thing sometimes.

I'll be honest, I didn't think I would like it, but I was so wrong. It was shorter than I'm used to - I read it in just over 2 hours, and it was a different style to what i'm used to, but I thought it was a blend of genres that had been pulled off extremely well.

Saige threw back the shot, savouring the burn as it flowed down her throat. If she didn't grab that male, there were dozens of others to choose from. Her captors preferred the most dangerous predatory species. They liked Deserati demons, butthey also loved Lash demons, and she was certain she'd seen a group of Watchers walk in.
She glanced around, not spotting them at the moment. Probably already in rooms with females. Dudes as big as that had ladies hanging off them like vines at this time of year. She looked to the dance floor, which was just a packed mass of bodies. It was hard to tell where one creature ended and the next began.
Her skin tingled, responding to the groping and kissing all around her. She needed to get relief, then she could do what she needed to.
She set down her glass and squared her shoulders, ready to sidle into the mass...and found her way blocked by a solid wall of muscle and a scent that almost brought her to her knees.
Smoke and a hint of dark spice clung to him. Well over six feet tall, he had short dark hair and green eyes that already gleamed with lust as he perused her from heels to hair. His eyes locked with hers, and she froze under the weight of his stare. Need, power, danger. And interest.
"Your name?" His deep voice rumbled around her, through her. His full lower lip looked bitable and her pulse quickened. He was a Lash, her species, and he was in the same hormonal boat she was. She could tell, even though she couldn't resist a quick peek at the bulge behind his zipper.
"Saige." She took in his enormous biceps and shoulders and inhaled once again. He was intoxicating, dreamy, sexy, and hot as hell.
A group of males pushed to the bar behind her, jostling her, and the Lash's arms went around her shoulders, tucking her close. Her breath hitched at the sensation of being pressed against that wide chest, and she took another greedy inhale. She rubbed her cheek on the soft black cotton of his T-shirt.
"I'm Tanner," he said, and she felt the word vibrate from his body the same way she heard them in her ears. "Let's go somewhere quieter."

Author Biography -


Sharon Kay writes award-winning fiction and can never get enough reading time. She loves winter and black coffee, and is endlessly inspired to write kick-ass heroines and the men strong enough to capture their hearts. Book Review - Saturday Requiem by Nicci French

I've been away 2 days, but I really missed my blog! I have so many eARCs to review, and I was getting really stressed out about the fact that I was only a third of the way through it, so I decided to just let it go and do my review now. Enjoy!

My Thoughts -

This book is the sixth in a series, so I haven't read as much into it as I could have. This was also my first time reading a psychological thriller/mystery, and to be honest I don't think it's a genre that I like. Bearing that in mind, I gave it 3 stars out of 5.

I found this book hard to get lost in. I know it's not just me, because I can pick up other books perfectly well. I just found that while the plot was rather interesting, it wasn't something I couldn't put down, and I got distracted quite easily.

The story also seemed to go a bit fast. I found that they were interviewing one person after the other, after the other, and I didn't really have time to fully process all that had happened.

The characters seemed too stiff for my liking, and there were many different scenarios with different people, so I was never sure of who was speaking or where they were. It's the same as in conversations, there's a lot of speech with nothing else, and then you get lost and find it hard to know who's saying what.

Book Review - Hell or High Water by Hailey Edwards

This book was my very first ARC - I got it downloaded to my Kindle app and have been reading it over the past few days. I'm kinda disappointed, really, but that's something to talk about later.

My Thoughts -

As I said before, I was kinda disappointed with this. I know it's the third in a series, and I haven't yet read the first two, but I thought there would be at least some indication of what happened previously. I found it totally confusing, and hard to get into. I had to almost force myself to read it because I kept turning my attention onto other things instead.

Furthermore, I usually like romance, but I found that there was just too much smush in this. I don't know if that's just me, but I found it sickening to read about.

As well as this, the story seemed to go too fast on the emotion front. I know that she is supposed to not have many feelings, but the ones that she did have were kinda downplayed. I mean, if she feels awkward, trapped, wants to run from whatever she's doing, then play it up.  I don't want to hear about how she had one doubt and then someone did something and then it's all okay again - I want to hear the ins and outs of her emotions. I want to have time to process it all.

I actually didn't finish this book. I stopped after chapter 5 because I thought why should I force myself to read something I'm clearly not interested in?

I won't do a praise for the author because I didn't like the book, but I also don't want to drag the author because I know that one book doesn't speak for all of the author's works, or what they're like at all, so I'll skip that bit.

Books I Should Have Read By Now

While I was looking at my shelves, I thought about what I read and realised that there are some things almost every book blogger has read, but I haven't. I have since come to the conclusion that there are way too many for me to just ignore them, and so my TBR has grown quite considerably. *Sigh*. So without further ado, here are some books that I seriously should've read by now.

1: The Harry Potter Series.
I have read The Philosopher's Stone, but I haven't read the rest, and while I have seen all the movies at least 12 times each, I know that the books will be slightly different and probably a lot betterthan the movies. As a self-proclaimed hardcore HP fan, I feel like I should read those books ASAP.

2: The Game of Thrones Series.
No, i haven't seen the TV show yet, either. I'm hoping I'll get to watch the show before reading the books, so I won't be so disappointed when I find that the books are so much better. They're there. On the bookcase in the lounge. I promise I will read them. Someday.

3: Any book by Cassandra Clare.
I have some of her books. She is an author I've been wanting to read for a while. There are loads of people who recommend her books to me on a daily basis. Yet, I haven't read anything by her because  they just sit on my ever-growing TBR. So I will get round to them. Eventually.

4: The Percy Jackson Series.
I know, I know. I need to work on reading some of the more famous series. They just never appealed to me, ya know?

5: Me Before You by JoJo Moyes.

Now that the movie is out, I really should jump on the bandwagon. I'm just not ready for that amount of feels yet. Not after ACOMAF.

6: The Classics.

Yes. You read that right. I have not read any of the classics. I tried Wuthering Heights. I tried Pride and Prejudice. They just... don't interest me as much as other books do. The covers look good though.

Okay. I'm going to stop before this list gets too long. You get what I mean, anyway. Please tell me I'm not the only one who's never read these?

Book Review - A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J Maas

This book has been out for a little while, and I bought it just two days after it was released, however I didn't read it until a few days ago because I was reading another book which I couldn't get into and it put me into one of the worst reading slumps I have ever experienced. But I've read it now!

My thoughts -

(WARNING - there may be spoilers). Honestly I used to ship Feyre and Tamlin but when Rhysand entered in A Court Of Thorns And Roses I was a little sceptical and I kind of thought something would happen with him. I'm so glad it did because I am one dedicated Feysand (Or Feyrhys) shipper now and yeah theyre soooooo meant to be together.

On the war front, I think they had good intentions but maybe forgot that there are other people making other plans too, so it didn't exactly go the way they thought.

The ending totally shocked me, and I was a little confused until the last, like, three pages, and then I was just like YES FEYRE YOU GO GIRL DESTROY THEM. Although I do think that the wedding could've been mentioned before. I mean you can't just leave something so significant like that out. Is that just me?

Anyways, I finished the whole book in two nights, and I was actually so hooked that I spent every last (spare) minute before school reading, and then I was too distracted by school to process it. If it had been a weekend, this book would have ruined me.

Praise for the Author -

Sarah J Maas is an auto-buy author for me, and I love her writing so so much. It's really eloquent and it has so many plot twists. I could never be bored with her books, and when the ACOTAR and TOG series end, I will continue to read her books just because they're hers.

Book Haul!

Heyy!

Okay, what better way to start a book blog than to do a book haul? My local bookstore just upgraded from three 'TeenFiction' shelf units, to a whole 'Young Adult' section, so I am very very happy. Thank you, Waterstones!
